How to make it faster on NFS ?

Hi,

the home directories of my students are auto-mounted on an NFS-filesystem. Starting and stopping Codelite is rather slow.
E.g., on an otherwise empty system, quitting Codelite just after it has started, takes about 40 seconds.
Codelite itself is on a local disk.

What can I do to speed Codelite's starting / quitting up?
