Looking at the log, I can see that the extraction of the .zip file that contains the images is taking place *way* too many times (it should happen only once)
I am going to optimize this part and see how it affects the start time

Splashscreen visible for 6 seconds
Codelite ready to use after 3 further seconds
Conclusion : very much improved, but not yet achieving the same startup time as codelite 9.0.2
